Auxiliary Corner - April 2025
Happy Spring Everyone!
Let’s hope the nasty weather is behind us!
I would like to thank everyone who attended the birthday dinner in March. We were honored to present our Unit Member of the Year to Sharon Rathbun for her amazing work with her program “HER in HERO”. Pat Tebordo presented the Betty Fowler annual Poppy award to Colleen Rich for her participation in the Poppy Program. All of our members did a wonderful job stepping up and participating in events this past year. I had the pleasure of creating over 30 appreciation certificates.
This month we will be hosting our Spring Basket Raffle on April 6th. There is still time to donate baskets. Please reach out to Danielle Haxstun, myself or any other auxiliary member if you wish to contribute.
April 17th we will be hosting the County Meeting for the Auxiliary. This will be their annual fundraiser/basket raffle. If you choose to donate a basket for this event, please bring it to the County meeting.
April 19th will be our annual walkathon. Please reach out to Dan Lancette if you need packets. The auxiliary will be doing a sandwich lunch after the walk.
Our next big event is of course, the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. Things are moving along quite nicely. We still need a ton of volunteers to make this event successful. Gary Fisher will be our master of ceremonies for this event. If you wish to volunteer, please attend the Wall meetings. Wall meetings are held at noon right after the Legion Family breakfast, second Sunday of each month. This month is April 13th.
We are starting to receive ads for the program book. If you would like to submit an ad, or know someone who does, ads are due no later than May 10 so we have time to compile it and send to the printer. There are ad info sheets at the lounge if anyone needs them.
April also brings our nomination month. The nominating committee has been busy reaching out to our members to gather information on who will be running for office. If you choose to run for office, or would like to nominate someone, please be present with your nominee at our April meeting. Elections are held at our May meeting as always. You must be current on your dues in order to vote.
We are seeing a lot of new faces at Bingo lately. The kitchen is booming! If you would like to volunteer to work the kitchen, that would be appreciated! We will bring this up again at the meeting.
Have a wonderful April! All the best!
