Auxiliary Corner - April 2026

Greetings Everyone!

The weather continues to get nicer, and our Auxiliary continues to get busier!

Our birthday dinner on March 21st was a great success. During the event, we proudly announced the establishment of The Kathleen Hayward Memorial Scholarship. This award will be given to a young woman entering the military, honoring the 62 years of resilience, compassion, and patriotism Kathy modeled for us all. It is our distinct honor to remember her by helping the next generation of female service members pave their own way.

  • Unit Member of the Year: June Gaulin
  • Betty Fowler Memorial Poppy Award: Joanna Powell
  • Honorary Life Member: Colleen Rich
  • Distinguished Recognition: Past 4th District President Sheila Holman, for her incredible work with Foreverly House and the 50th Remembrance of the Vietnam War.

We also presented plaques to the Sons of the American Legion and the Riders to thank them for their vital support during the Wall event.

Upcoming Events & Programs

  • Women Veterans Luncheon (March 28): The 4th District is holding a seminar at our Post. The Auxiliary will provide lunch, and Sharon Rathbun will be promoting “Her in Hero” to support female veterans in need.

  • Operation Full Plate: Our recent meeting had 20 attendees, and we already have 30 veterans signed up! We will begin deliveries within a 20-mile radius of the Post.

    • Meal Prep: Monday, April 13.
    • Deliveries/Pickups: April 14 and 15.
    • Donations: We are still collecting non-perishable items. Please reach out to contribute.

  • National Visitation Dinner: April 16 in Saratoga.

  • Mother’s Day Vendor Craft Fair: This will be an outdoor event held alongside our Mother’s Day breakfast. If you know a vendor who wants to join (must bring their own tables/EZ-up), let us know!

Announcements & Reminders

  • May Elections: The committee is currently gathering nominations. There’s still time to run!
  • Generator Raffle: Tickets are available in the lounge ($5 each or 5 for $20).
  • Bingo Kitchen: A huge thank you to our volunteers. We appreciate you!
