Commander's Corner - November 2024
Hello Comrades,
I would like to thank all of the members who volunteered this month. We picked up the flags from the cemeteries on Oct 12 and those who participated stated how quick it went this year as opposed to the prior years. I believe that was because we had more people involved. Greatly appreciated.
The Early Bird Dinner was held on Oct 19th. Approximately 70 members attended this great opportunity to interact with fellow members. The Sons put on a good feast that tasted superb.
The Halloween Family Fun Day is scheduled for the Oct 26th. Volunteers came in on the 20th and prepared the candy for the day. Thank you to the members of the Sons and Aux. Hopefully next year we can get a few Legionnaires involved. More hands create less work for all.
In winter news, we received our 3rd bid for the installation of the furnace needed for the museum upstairs and I was able to assemble 4 upper members of the executive board to discuss which bid to accept. J & D Plumbing was unanimously chosen since have used this company just recently and were pleased with them. Also, we will continue to use the services of the Guyett Family for snow removal.
The Hallway door installation has been completed to include the trim work that expertly placed by our own Sons Commander Lancette. The time and effort Dan volunteers for us is very appreciated by all members.
The Lounge is still being updated with paint and patch work, so please be patient. Thanks.
The Queen of Hearts game is coming along nicely. The total as of the writing of this is over $2000.00. Long Live The Queen. LOL
I’m sad to convey that the Pub Crawl this year has been cancelled due to the monetary increases.
Membership is up to 63% (202 Paid members).
Finally, don’t forget about the following upcoming events:
- Nov 7 Warren County Nursing Home visit. They love us.
- Nov 8 Fort Hudson Nursing home visit.
- Nov 9 Veterans Dinner at the Post. Free to Veterans, see you there.
- Nov 10 Veterans breakfast at the Post. Free to Veterans.
- Nov 11 Juckett Park Ceremony 11am. Followed by a Ceremony at the Post.
Sincerely, your Commander
Jon (Mike) Michael
