Lynn Mac Rae Goodness 11/16/1943 - 12/12/2026
Lynn Mac Rae Goodness, born November 16, 1943, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Known to many as ‘Goody,’ Lynn will be remembered for his quick wit, steady presence, and the kind of humor that could cut through any tough moment usually followed by one of his famous ‘Goodyisms’ that left everyone laughing (and occasionally shaking their heads).
Lynn grew up in Lake George, New York, a place that always stayed close to his heart. Later, he moved to Saratoga Springs, where he built a life and raised his family with his beloved wife, Lynda, who passed away in 2019. Together they created a home full of love, laughter, and the kind of everyday support that family never forgets.

Lynn Mac Rae Goodness
Lynn proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was also a devoted and active member of the American Legion and the VFW communities that meant a great deal to him and reflected his deep sense of loyalty, service, and camaraderie.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Goodness, and by his children: Paul Goodness (wife Meghan; children Hannah and Jackson) and Katherine Francis (husband Josh; son John Thomas). He is also survived by his sister, Gay Smith (husband Roger), along with several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Lynn loved the outdoors, loved music, and lived for the joy of the open road especially riding his trike motorcycle with Joan. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it, even if he sometimes approached the job with more confidence than craftsmanship. He liked to think he was handy, and his family wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Professionally, Lynn spent time selling hip and knee replacements, a job he described with perfect Goody humor: ‘I sell joints.’ And honestly, he did bring warmth, conversation, and a laugh to everyone he met along the way.
More than anything, Lynn’s family will remember how he showed up: with loyalty, jokes, stories, and love always ready with a line, a grin, and a steady presence that made life feel a little lighter.
Ahloo, Dad.
