Sons Corner - February 2026
Greetings Squadron and Legion Post 574 Family!
Hope everyone has a great holiday and a happy new year with your friends and family.
Thank you to everyone that helped make the December Breakfast with Santa a success. We gave out over 300 meals that day. Thank you to Post 574 Auxiliary for the amazing job with the decorations and activities for the kids. Lastly, thank you to Big Dan for being Santa.
We had another successful year adopting families this year that needed our help during this holiday season. A huge thank you to Brian Vogel and his family for doing all the hard work that goes into giving these families a good Christmas.
As of January 20th we are at 110.21% paid for 2026. My goal was to be
at 100% by end of the year and we exceeded that easily. Amazing job by
everyone. Please see one of my officers if you want to reach out those
who have not paid their dues yet.
At our January Meeting we received an award from Our 4th District SAL Commander Dan Lancette from the SAL Detachment for hitting 100% membership by December.
Another announcement is that they started the installation of the new kitchen cabinets in the kitchen. Please check them out. We also voted on another project during our January SAL meeting and that is put new cabinets between the pull tabs and the jukebox with a small in cabinet mini fridge for condiments. The Sons are paying for the project, and we brought the idea to the post level and they approved it. New cabinets in the lounge are coming soon!
We had a visitor at January SAL Meeting, a senior from South Glens Falls high school asking for a donation for the annual SGF Marathon Dance. The Sons voted and gave her a check for $1,000. She said that was her goal and we challenged her to double her goal with us giving her a $1,000 to meet her first goal.
Please continue to check our Facebook page “Sons of American Legion #574” for more information on events and information about our squadron.
Remember the February breakfast is Sunday, February 8th and the Sons meeting is February 17th.
As always, thank you for your continued support of Post 574 and our mission to serve our veterans, their families, and friends and our community. God Bless you all!
I like to end with a quote,
“Our veterans don’t always go around telling stories of their heroism, so it’s up to us to ask and to listen, to tell those stories for them and to live in our own lives the values for which they were prepared to give theirs.” - Barack Obama
