Sons Corner - June 2024

Greetings to all Squadron 574 and Legion 574 Family. Hope everyone is well. Here we are in June already, time for camping, boating, motorcycle tours, BBQ’s, fireworks and more. So much to do and so little time. Be safe in what ever you choose for an activity.

For Post activities in June, The Riders are sponsoring a chicken BBQ on the 8th, $15 per dinner starting at Noon until sold out (reservation/sign up sheet in lounge). The 3rd annual Post 574 golf tournament is on the 15th, deadline is closing in to register a team, $90 per player, includes cart, breakfast, lunch and dinner (everything).

Voting for Squadron officers was in May. Here is the list of your E Board members:

That’s correct, same as last year. Thank you to Squadron members for the faith you have in us to lead our group. Thank you as well to the members who continue to serve as officers.

May’s meeting also brought in 2 more new members, Joseph Groom and LeRoy Catone. Welcome to the Squadron 574 and American Legion Post 574 Family. Our membership has continually grown these past couple years, we are now at 196 members strong. New cards for 2025 should arrive in July or August and ready for Septembers’ meeting.

Junes Meeting is on Tuesday the18th starting at 7PM, at this time we will install officers for 2024/25. This will be last meeting until reconvening in September on the 17th. There are no meetings in July or August. Any up-coming events will be posted on our Facebook Page Sons of the American Legion #574.

Just a reminder to the membership, this is your Sons Committee, you are the driving force. Only the membership, not just the officers, make the group a success. Volunteering for events, supporting the community we are a part of that supports us, the Veterans and our Home Post 574 we dedicate ourselves to. Working together we can achieve anything. If you have an idea or suggestions please let myself and the group know, there’s no bad ideas.

Thank you to all our volunteers for the 2023/24 season we are ending this month. The monthly breakfast, dinners, collecting FND donations, all were a huge success because of all of you. Let us make the new season starting in September be bigger than the last. With the membership we have, I think it’s possible. There is no sign up sheet for volunteering, just show up to any Legion event and lend a hand. The Volunteers, as a I always say, keep the Post moving forward. The calendar is always full of activities, choose one or all, everyone fits in.

June 16th is Fathers’ Day, I wish all Dads a Happy Fathers’ Day, and for those who have departed a Happy “Heavenly” Fathers’ Day. No matter where they may be, here at home or abroad serving in our military, I hope you all have a glorious day.

Don’t forget to Say Thank You to any Veteran, active Military or First Responder, they sacrifice there time and family protecting us so we can be here for them. God Bless to them and all and our United States of America, land of the free, because of the brave.
