Sons Corner - June 2025
It’s the Sons Corner with Squadron 574 Commander - Dan Lancette
Greetings Squadron and Legion Post 574 Family. Here we are in June, 2025. Beginning of Summer, BBQ’s, camping, boating, fishing, vacations maybe. How you choose to enjoy the coming season, be safe, have fun. Remember to stop and smell the roses or the first morning cup of coffee on the deck, most of all, appreciate what and who is around you. Family… wether the one you grew up with or the extended one that was created. This June, on the 15th, we celebrate our Dad’s. We may have not always have seen eye to eye on things, but we listened and appreciated the life’s lessons taught by you. For some like myself, we celebrate a Heavenly Fathers’ Day. Those Dad’s will always be with us. Happy Fathers’ Day to all our Dads.
Membership of the Squadron is continuing to get stronger, at over 103% paid with continuous, new and transferred membership. In May we welcome Mark Middleton to the SAL Squadron 574 as a new Member. Welcome mark to the AL Post 574 Family.

The Pavilion Kitchen project continues and completion will hopefully be this month. Volunteers will be needed for painting, cleaning and general maintenance of property, As members of the SAL Squadron 574 and a part of the American Legion, this Post is a second home to us all. Take part as a volunteer in keeping our home shining within our community, for us and our Veterans. Contact the Commanders on where you may be able to help. There is always room for everyone.
June 14th is the Annual Post 574 Golf Tournament, Sons volunteers will be needed for cooking breakfast sandwiches and distribution at Hartford Greens Golf Course and the steak dinner that follows back at the Post, contact Big Dan for further info on times needed. Bingo committee is also looking for more volunteers with selling tickets and/or working the floor during Bingo. Contact Mike Wheeler, Bingo Chairperson. Even if it’s only one day a month you can volunteer, it is a big help.
The Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall is fast approaching on July 24 to the 28th. Volunteers for reading names on the Wall are desperately needed. Go to Post 574 and scan a QR code to sign up, contact Auxiliary President Julie Montello for that information. Our AL Riders Chapter 574 is in need of people to help collect raffle items for the Annual Benefit Ride on August 2nd. This is usually a big day for our Post. Raffle Items can be a basket, gift cards or even hotel stays. Rider Donation Letters are available at The Post 574 Lounge. Contact Director Big Dan Nolin or Asst. Director Don DuPrey Jr.
Remember how we got the freedoms we have during this Summer and year round, the Service Men and Women who sacrificed everything to defend our Constitution, communities, State and Nation. Always say thank you and God bless to all and this Country.
Sincerely – Dan Lancette – Squadron 574 Commander
