Sons Corner - October 2025
Greetings Squadron and Legion Post 574 family!
First, I want to introduce myself as the new Post 574 SAL Commander. I have been part of the legion family my entire life, following and learning from my dad and legion membership. I look forward on taking on this new role of leadership and helping continue the growth of this great organization. I want to apologize for missing the September Newsletter, I’m new at this.
October is here and you know what that means, Our Annual American Legion Family Halloween event is coming up. This year it will be held on October 25th from 12-4pm come out and have fun with us. If you would like to set up a tent to pass out candy or volunteer please reach out to Dan Lancette or myself.
During our October breakfast we will start selling tickets for our 15th annual Christmas Tree Raffle. The Christmas tree raffle includes a pre-lite Christmas tree with $1,000 worth of NYS lottery tickets. Tickets are $10 each and only 500 tickets are available. Get them fast as they sell quickly each year.
The Post Family Pavillion kitchen renovations are ongoing and looking good out there. Always looking for volunteers to help continue these renovations. If you would like to help out and volunteer, please reach out to Dan Lancette.
Let’s talk about membership. During our first meeting last month we voted in 14 new members! We now have over 200 sons members in our Squadron. Amazing Job! Let’s keep that number coming. The biggest number of people voted in at once during a meeting. As of September 19th, our Sons Squadron membership is at 73% paid for 2026. So close to hitting that 100% early this year! If you have not paid your 2026 dues ($20), get them in. Let’s achieve the 100% goal together as a membership.
Check out our Facebook page for more information on events and information about our Squadron. You can find the page by searching “Sons of American Legion #574”.
Please don’t forget those who have and those who do sacrifice family and friends to protect us. As always, thank you for your continued support of Post 574 and our mission to serve veterans, their families and friends and our community. God Bless you all!
I like to end with a quote,
